Who are the Ogden Trust?

Established by Sir Peter Ogden in 1999, they are a charitable trust that exists to promote the teaching and learning of physics. They do this by enabling innovative physics teaching to take place in, and collaboratively between schools, often forging links to universities. We support teacher CPD and address the shortage of physics teachers in the UK by funding programmes that encourage young graduates to go into teaching. We also provide resourcing to allow for the quality teaching of science.

At Abbey Village Primary School, we work in collaboration with other local primary schools: Brindle St James, Roe Lee Green and Turton Belmont Primary School.  This allows us to share ideas and training opportunities for our staff and children.

Physics as a subject has a huge importance in the world today and we must ensure that access to good quality physics education is about the ability to learn and not the ability to pay. Cameron Ogden, Chair of The Ogden Trust

The Ogden Trust: supporting physics education & engagement

We are very lucky to have our own dedicated science lab - a space fo science teaching in school. We were very lucky to have Sir Lindsay Hoyle and Councillor Jayne Rear over in February 2025 to come and open are wonderful space.
